What DO I offer you?

My training is in person-centred counselling, which is a “humanistic” approach to therapy. It was founded by Carl Rogers, who believed that everyone has a natural drive for positive growth, and that growth can be achieved when people are provided with the right environment. I strive to create that environment in my sessions, with genuine empathy, a non-judgmental attitude (no matter what), and by supporting us both to be truly authentic with one another. From these core conditions, I will help you explore your issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour and worldview, so you can work towards any goals you may have, achieve the personal growth you seek, and become the best version of yourself.

I also believe in a pluralistic approach to counselling, which focuses on collaborating with clients and tailoring the therapeutic process to what suits each individual. I will never presume to know what is best for you - you are the expert in your own life, and I want you to feel comfortable letting me know what you need.

The pluralistic approach also means we can tap into other modes of therapy that might be helpful for you. This includes incorporating elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion focussed therapy, and more traditional psychodynamic approaches, which I am continually developing my skills in. If you are interested in exploring these modalities, just let me know!

But the main thing is…

I offer you a totally safe space to be unapologetically yourself, to get anything that is bothering you off your chest, and gain practical tools to incorporate into your life.

While I am at the start of my counselling career, I am experienced at working with clients contending with significant professional and personal issues. I am good at understanding and simplifying tricky situations and helping clients find a way forward.

I’ve got you.
